米国のメディアは、ブリンケン国務長官が2月5日から6日にかけて中国を訪問し、北京で中国の新外相である秦剛と会談する見込みと報じた。ブリンケンの訪問は2022年11月のG20サミットで中国と米国の首脳が行った公約をフォローアップする目的とされた。今回の訪問は、日米関係の改善に積極的な役割を果たすとするバイデン大統領の意向を反映している。中国外務省の王文斌報道官は「中国はブリンケン長官の訪中を歓迎する」とした。
